The Corporate and Internal Communications Adviser will report to the Head, Corporate Relations (CR) Indonesia. This is a key role working closely in support of the Corporate Relations LT in Indonesia as well as other internal and external stakeholders. The role is expected to provide strategic leadership of internal and corporate communications delivery in the country by ensuring impactful and effective contributions from these activities that will strengthen Shell Indonesias overall reputation and contribute to achieving its business goals.
Whats the role?
Reporting to the Head, CR Indonesia, the role will support delivery of the agreed CR plan focusing on Corporate and Internal Communications (IC) initiatives in Indonesia. The role is a key contributor to the CR team in Indonesia who leads the collective efforts in defining and executing Shells corporate and IC strategy that is aligned with the agreed CR country plan. The responsibility includes bringing external perspectives and trends that are relevant to Shells business strategy in Indonesia to the planning and delivery of Corporate Relations initiative and priorities for Indonesia. The Corporate and Internal Communications Adviser will also be responsible for the overall planning and execution of integrated media (traditional and online) relations strategy that protects and enhance Shells license to operate in Indonesia.
More specifically, the Corporate and Internal Communications Adviser is expected to be accountable for the following areas:
In consultation with Head, CR Indonesia, be able to independently maintain and expand Shells network among media (traditional and online) organisations and their influencers (e.g., energy policy commentators, analyst, etc.) to enable an effective delivery of integrated media relations strategy that enhances Shells license to operate in the country.
Edits and provides input on Shells external communications materials, especially press release or website content for Indonesia; provides regular updates on the Groups Disclosure guidelines that business and other function leaders in Shell in Indonesia need to be aware and follow including related to corporate marketing platforms owned by Business (e.g., social media, partners channels, etc.).
Acts as CR Indonesias focal point related to Groups Corporate and IC initiatives including related to communicating Shells Powering Progress strategy delivery and impact.
Provides content input and edit on key communications collaterals (i.e., executive briefing note for media engagement, speech) for Shell Indonesias Country Chair and Head of CR in external setting.
Oversees the delivery of public relations/corporate communications support and media monitoring/tracking support by external firm or third party engaged by Corporate Relations.
Provides counsel and content input (draft to be e prepared by Country Chair, business and function leaders) as well as oversees the delivery of comprehensive IC solutions to support Shell agenda in Indonesia.
Provides input on employee engagement activities related to Shell People Survey (such activities to be owned and led by HR) and Social Investment programmes.
Dimensions:
Be a role model for Ethics and Compliance (e.g., Code of Conduct, Anti-Bribery & Corruption) and Safety in line with Shell General Business Principles and Health, Safety and Environment guidelines.
Be able to interpret the impact of external trends, especially in the energy industry gathered from media, online influencers, and analysts to generate an assessment of risks and opportunities relating to Shells license to operate and reputation management including via IC channels.
Be able to influence internal business plan and strategies by identifying issues or topics relevant to media and their influencers and by effectively engaging with CR and business leaders in Indonesia.
Able to work with multiple stakeholders (internally and externally) on matters related to reputation management and IC initiatives that are in line with the agreed CR plan for Indonesia and consistent with the Groups Disclosure requirements/guidelines.
What we need from you
Advanced degree in any discipline
Significant professional experience in media and corporate communications role or corporate/public relations consulting firm; a prior experience in either traditional or online media organisation is preferred
Brings deep understanding and knowledge on Indonesias integrated media (print, electronic and online) landscape; an understanding of energy or resource industry is a plus
Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work through and influence others to effect change
Good interpersonal and communication skills - Ability to secure the trust of a wide range of stakeholders including business leaders and external stakeholders including media, analyst community, think tanks, etc.
Self-starter showing high degree of personal initiative, drive, and desire to come up with creative solutions; ability to work independently, balance competing priorities and manage workload
A learner mindset - Being a role model in your levels of curiosity and reflection and encouraging people to learn from their mistakes and successes
Flexibility and preparedness to travel for work
Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English (oral communications and writing).
