We are extremely excited to announce that we are inviting applications for a Legal Counsel role to be based in our Jakarta, Indonesia office. In this exciting opportunity you will assist in the management of the provision of legal services by internal and external legal counsel. You will also support the development of strategy for, and management of, litigation and dispute resolution processes.

In this highly visible and critical role, you will primarily provide legal advice to Orica's businesses in the Republic of Indonesia, to enable achievement of business strategies and objectives in accordance with applicable laws and Orica policies and procedures. 
 

• Provides independent, timely, high quality, solution-focused, risk based and cost-effective legal support. 
• Work closely with commercial teams to explore practical solutions or propose new ways of working to improve operations.
• Drafts, reviews and negotiates a range of commercial contracts, including product and services supply agreements. 
• Supports deployment of the Orica contracts management policies, procedures and systems. 
• Monitors key laws and emerging legislation affecting the business in Indonesia; inform relevant personnel of legal developments that affect their respective areas of responsibility; suggest preventive procedures to minimize exposure to legal risks and liabilities. 
• Helps support legal aspects of acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures and major customer contracts as required. 
• Supports development and maintenance of effective compliance with appropriate corporate governance policies and standards in the Region, including Orica’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Group Standard (dealing with anti-bribery and corruption, competition law compliance, trade sanction compliance and anti-money laundering). 
• Ensures Orica complies with the laws and regulations of the jurisdictions in the Republic of Indonesia in which it does business and operates in conformity with Orica's group policies, standards and procedures. 

• Indonesian qualified lawyer with 3-5 years post admission experience
• LLB / LLM from a reputable university 
• Experience obtained from a reputable law firm is an advantage
• Industry experience is not essential but must have the ability to learn a new industry quickly
• Native Bahasa Indonesian + strong English language skills a must
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Team player who can operate independently
