The Superintendent is overall responsible for vessel operational support and ensuring that the vessels comply with Flag State and International codes, guidelines, and regulations concerning navigation, safety, and pollution prevention.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for the daily operations of the vessels.
• Responsible for liaising with clients regarding operational matters and relaying any issues to the relevant department.
• Responsible for liaising with the Commercial Department to ensure that customer requirements are met.
• Responsible for visiting the vessels to ensure correct marine practices are being carried out.
• Responsible for ensuring that new officers are briefed, as per the operations section of the briefing checklist, when they join ship.
• Responsible for ensuring that vessels comply with Flag State and Port State Legislation.
• Responsible for performing a systematic review of recommended codes guidelines and standards. (Deck Department Related).
• Responsible for giving advice on Flag State and Port State Legislation to Masters and Head Office Staff.
• Carried out Internal audit on board.
• Prepare external audit, pre-hire inspection, class & statutory inspection.
• Authorized to obtain confidential files in regard to the Operations Department.
• Monitor of vessel inventory and vessel requisition.
• Verifying that the maintenance is being carried out in accordance with the plan maintenance system.
• Verifies the amount of bunkers and fresh water remaining onboard, and ensures sufficient bunkers on board at all times.
• Monitors the fuel oil and freshwater consumption.
• Arrange forthcoming bunkering arrangements and ensure bunkers and fresh water are available when required.
• 24-hour on-call basis, working on odd hours & public holidays.

Job Requirements

• Minimum bachelor’s degree from Maritime Higher Education Institute/Petroleum Engineering/Marine Engineering.
• Have experience in the marine industry onshore minimum of 2 (five) years as a marine superintendent or have experience in the offshore industry minimum of 5 years as a marine representative.
• Have a good knowledge of Navigation, Cargo Handling, and stowage, offshore vessel activities, vessel inspection, vessel certification, AHTS equipment, Publication, and radio Communication system 
• Able to communicate in English both speaking and writing.
• Having knowledge in ISM, ISPS & ISO with the updated version
• Having knowledge of Offshore marine industrial standards such as IMCA, OVID & OVMSA
• Ready to travel for a business trip.
