Job Overview: A static equipment inspector is responsible for ensuring the integrity, safety, and compliance of stationary equipment used in various industrial processes. They inspect and assess equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, and boilers to ensure they meet industry standards, codes, and regulations.

Responsibilities:

1. Inspection and Testing: Perform visual inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) on static equipment to identify defects, corrosion, wear, and other potential issues.
2. Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive inspection records, reports, and documentation of inspection findings, including photographs and NDT results.
3. Compliance: Ensure that static equipment adhere to relevant industry codes and standards, such as ASME, API, and ANSI, as well as project specifications.
4. Material Verification: Verify that materials used in the construction and repair of static equipment meet required specifications and quality standards.
5. Pressure Testing: Oversee pressure tests and hydrostatic tests to validate the equipment's structural integrity and ability to withstand operational conditions.
6. Welding Inspection: Monitor welding activities during equipment fabrication, repairs, and maintenance to ensure proper techniques and procedures are followed.
7. Risk Assessment: Assess the risk associated with equipment failures and provide recommendations for repairs, replacements, or maintenance.
8. Coordination: Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to address and resolve inspection-related issues and ensure equipment reliability.
9. Safety Compliance: Ensure that safety protocols and regulations are followed during inspections to maintain a safe working environment.
10. Training and Education: Provide guidance and training to other team members, including junior inspectors and technicians, to enhance overall quality and compliance.
11. Documentation Review: Review equipment documentation, including design drawings, fabrication records, and maintenance histories, to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (minimum); vocational or technical education in a related field is preferred.
• Relevant certifications such as API 510 (Pressure Vessel Inspector), API 570 (Piping Inspector), ASNT NDT Level II.
• Experience in inspecting and evaluating static equipment, preferably in industries such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, or power generation.
• Strong knowledge of industry codes, standards, and regulations related to static equipment.
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders.
• Attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in physically demanding environments and adhere to safety guidelines.
