The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, installing and managing our databases. You will ensure optimal database performance by analyzing database issues and monitoring database performance.

Responsibilities

• Manage database changes and re-designs
• Analyze database issues and troubleshoot or configure the database accordingly
• Drive automation of code
• Monitor database performance to ensure high levels of security and speed
• Optimizing and managing database replication, incident handling, upgrades, migration, backup and recovery.
• Monitoring database availability and performance.
• Monitoring the slow queries and give the recommendation to improve the query through indexing, partitioning etc.
• Apply security to database deployments and operations.
• Manage cloud-based database servers and processes, including regular maintenance and monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
• Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review.
• Create performance indicators to locate and correct problems
• Oversee upgrades to application databases for new releases

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Technology, or a related field of study
• Proven knowledge of SQL Servers
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Min. 1 year experience in managing database.
• High experience with SQL database technologies such as MySQL & PostgreSQL.
• Familiar with performance tuning and optimization using natiive monitoring, troubleshooting, and database performance monitoring tools.
• Familiar with cloud technology (e.g. AWS RDS / Cloud SQL).
• Familiar with scripting languages (at least one of Shell/Python).
• Familiar with Linux systems, good system troubleshooting skills.
• Strong analytical and planning skills
