Purpose of role

• To provide technical guidance and support for operations and corporate development activities on a corporate-wide basis. To act as a senior point of contact for all technical employees in the function.
• To provide recommendations on current and emerging practices and technologies and to implement recommendations that are a source of key competitive advantage.

Job responsibilities/ Requirements

Independently can generate LOM Plans and Reserves Estimation for the exploitation of PT. Supra Bara Energi, Berau coal mining tenements in accordance with instruction from the GM/PM Mining Operation.

To use advanced-level knowledge to manage mine engineering, mine planning, and mine survey, activities:

• Establish the mining engineering standards and procedures through appropriate consultation, investigation and analysis methods, with reference to any design principles, engineering and technical standards relevant to legislative requirements, HSE and risk management.
• Acts as a change agent for areas related to all mine engineering matters, including assessing readiness to engage in change efforts and designing and implementing change strategies.
• Foresees and removes barriers to project success and escalates major issues to GM Operation and PM Mining Operation.
• Becomes knowledgeable in mine planning software and coordinates the preparation of standardized cash flow spreadsheets for the LOM plans. Assist in auditing and updating preliminary LOM plans.
• Supports corporate scoping, PFS and feasibility study efforts as well as technical due diligence including preparation of open pit mine designs, costs and schedules.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams and considers the business impact of decisions on diverse groups; influences others to achieve project goals often without direct authority.
• Evaluates, designs, and implements procedures related to mine planning.
• Appraise mining methods, processing methods, operating costs, capital spending, production schedules, dilution and ore loss estimates. Identify key engineering and mining success factors and issues that could impact the economic viability of new ventures under consideration.
• Identifies the need for and develops company-wide standards, procedures, and policies and ensures compliance with industry and professional regulations.
• Provide supervision of mining engineering standards and procedures through the processes of the mine safety management system.
• Provides direction and leadership to both internal staff and external consultants or contractors engaged in providing technical support activities to the Company.

To advise the BOD on mine engineering, mine planning, and mine survey activities:

• Prepares business cases and reports regarding projects, and other initiatives; presents recommendations and status updates to key stakeholders.
• Prepares financial spreadsheets, summarises information and communicates results to key leaders.
• Reviews best practices and the competitive landscape and recommends continuous improvement efforts in mining engineering.
• Influences leaders and key stakeholders to buy into change efforts that will result in sustained competitive advantage.
• Interface with senior management and other departments (operations, project managers, human resources, accounting & finance, and IT) to ensure effective identification and communication of operations and project information that could impact the Company’s business results.
• Measuring the effectiveness of the mining engineering standards and procedures against the performance standards of the safety management system and external good (or best) practice so they remain current, effective and improved where possible.

Qualification & experience

• S-1/S2 Bachelor degree of Mine Engineering from reputable university
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Mine Engineer senior level in the area of mining environment in an open-cut mining operation in a large Mining Group/Company.
• High level of proficiency with various mine planning software systems (such as HxGN MinePlan Schedule Optimizer, Vulcan, Datamine, Whittle, Net Present Value Scheduler, MineMax, Deswik, MSO, etc.) desirable. Exhibits an interest /aptitude for learning these systems.
• Interpretation of Geological & Survey data, Short term, midterm and long term planning.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, good analytical and focus on details.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa both verbal and written; and computer literate –Minescape hands on.
