Job Summary:
The Risk Operations Management Department Head is responsible for overseeing and managing the risk operations function within an organization. They play a crucial role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential risks that may impact the company's operations and financial performance. Your primary objective will be to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks through the procurement and management of insurance policies. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders, insurance brokers, and underwriters to ensure appropriate coverage and minimize potential financial losses.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Risk Management Strategy:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management strategy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Identify and assess potential risks across various operational areas, including financial, compliance, operational, reputational, and strategic risks.
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices to enhance risk management strategies.
2. Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Develop and implement risk assessment methodologies and frameworks to identify, measure, and prioritize risks.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to establish risk mitigation strategies and action plans.
- Monitor the effectiveness of risk mitigation measures and make recommendations for improvement as needed.
3. Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards related to risk management.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and communicate relevant updates to the organization.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate risk-related audits and examinations.
4. Insurance Program Development and Management:
- Develop and implement insurance strategies and programs to effectively manage identified risks.
- Work with insurance brokers to assess insurance market conditions and obtain competitive quotes.
- Collaborate with underwriters to negotiate terms, conditions, and premiums for insurance policies.
5. Reporting and Communication:
- Prepare and present comprehensive risk management reports to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
- Communicate risk-related information, issues, and recommendations effectively to key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as finance, legal, and compliance, to align risk management efforts.
6. Continuous Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate and enhance risk management processes and methodologies.
- Implement new technologies, tools, and systems to streamline risk operations and enhance efficiency.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging risks to proactively address potential challenges.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, risk management, business administration, or a related field.
- Min. 3 years experience in the same position (preferably the banking industry).
- Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong knowledge of risk management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using Ms Office.
- Certification in risk management is a plus.
