Due to recent expansion, we are seeking a Senior Design Manager to join our team, based in Batam.

About the role

The successful Senior Design Manager will service the business, heading up the design management team and will play a key part in stakeholder and client relationships at the early stages of the project.

You will work closely with the estimating and delivery teams to develop work winning strategies and identify value engineering proposals to ensure efficient and cost-effective construction detailing.

You will manage, lead and mentor several Design Managers whilst working closely with the senior leadership team, both in Batam and Australia.  

Job description

·        Support the Australian estimating team though review of new project design, geometry and estimated materials usage.

·        Coordinate with the Australian Design Office and Batam Production Team to deliver relevant information critical to the timely delivery schedules.

·        Manage the project budget, resource identification and schedule for the CAD team.

·        Co-ordinate design activities to ensure the achievement of quality, completion and design budget objectives

·        Interpreting 2D drawings, sketches, markups etc to create or modify 2D CAD drawings or 3D CAD models using Autodesk Inventor

·        Creating and modifying 2D and 3D CAD Models using Autodesk Inventor

·        Preparation and issuing of 2D and 3D drawings and Documentation using Autodesk Inventor & Rhino

·        Assisting in preparation of Transmittals, Schedules, Reports and Presentations

·        Implementing and/or maintaining CAD design and Drafting Standards

·        Managing design in accordance with cost plans and construction programmes and monitor the quality throughout construction process

·        Implementing and/or maintaining Documents and Revision Control

·        Oversee the work of CAD drafters, making sure that every drawing is legible, professional and adheres to applicable project and Australian/International Standards

·        Coordinate delivery of final design “for tender” documentation

Skills and qualifications

To be successful, the following skills would be seen as Essential:

·        Strong leadership skills, understanding the scope of works required from the team.

·        12+ year industry experience in the same or similar industry.

·        5+ years’ experience in Autodesk Inventor

·        5+ years’ experience in 2D drafting & documentation including usage of Tecklar

·        Proven Management Skills to manage KPA within the department.

·        Ability to communicate, influence and build effective relationships at all levels of the external and  internal business environment.

·        Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high-pressure environment

·        Proven high level of professionalism, maturity and candour in daily work ethic

·        Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems

·        Fluent in both written and spoken English & Bahasa

·        Bachelor and/or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Design or similar

·        A prerequisite for application is excellent written and spoken English, with a high capacity for optimal Communication and presentation skills

·        Plan, organize and manage CAD team to achieve KPA’s on a day to day and monthly targets, achieve program and budgeted hours across multiple projects concurrently.

·        Desirable:

·        Experience in finite element method (FEM) would be an advantage
