Job Overview:

A piping inspector is responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of piping systems used in various industries, such as oil and gas, petrochemical, power generation, and construction. They inspect and assess piping materials, fabrication, welding, installation, and maintenance activities to ensure they meet industry standards, codes, and regulations.

Responsibilities:

1. Inspection and Evaluation: Conduct visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections of piping components, joints, welds, and fittings to identify defects, inconsistencies, and non-compliance with codes and standards.
2. Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive inspection records, reports, and documentation of inspection findings, including photographs and NDT results.
3. Compliance: Ensure that piping systems and components adhere to relevant industry codes, standards (such as ASME, API, ANSI), and project specifications.
4. Material Verification: Verify that piping materials, including pipes, valves, fittings, and gaskets, meet required material specifications and quality standards.
5. Welding Inspection: Monitor and evaluate welding processes to ensure proper techniques, procedures, and standards are followed during fabrication and installation.
6. Testing and Validation: Oversee pressure tests, leak tests, and hydrostatic tests to ensure piping systems can safely withstand operational conditions.
7. Coordination: Collaborate with engineering, construction, and maintenance teams to address and resolve inspection-related issues and ensure compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
8. Safety Compliance: Ensure that safety protocols and regulations are followed during inspections to maintain a safe working environment.
9. Training and Education: Provide guidance and training to other team members, including welders and junior inspectors, to enhance overall quality and compliance.
10. Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement, propose corrective actions, and contribute to enhancing overall quality control procedures.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (minimum); vocational or technical education in a related field is preferred.
• Relevant certifications such as API 570, AWS CWI, ASNT NDT Level II,
• Demonstrated experience in piping construction, fabrication, or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of industry codes, standards, and regulations.
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders.
• Attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in physically demanding environments and adhere to safety guidelines.
